One in two French consider themselves catholics, but there’s not a lot of conviction, according to a recent survey.
French catholics pray little, and don’t go to church very often. Over half of them admit they’re catholic because they were born in a catholic family.
One in twelve goes to mass at least once a week, but an equal number never sees the inside of a church.
One in six French catholics prays daily, but three out of ten never say a prayer. Still, nearly all know the “Our Father“.
French catholics have liberal views. Four out of five are in favor of married priests and an equal number says female priests are OK.
The most surprising outcome of the survey: Only one in two believe that there’s a God, three out of ten don’t know, 10% think it’s not very likely, and a staggering 7% of French catholics say there is no God.
So glad I checked in to your blog today because there’s a similar post on parisdailyphoto.com about the same subject. A lot of questions being asked about the stats and how people considering themselves as Catholic don’t believe in God. Thanks for clarifiying some of the stats for me.
