What’s more stupid than driving too fast? Bragging about it on the Internet.
A 25-year old French man decided it was fun to drive at 225km/h (140 mph) on a road where the speed limit was 110km/h (68mph). For even more fun he filmed the event, and posted it on YouTube, under the title “Loic et sa trottinette” (Loic and his scooter).
Unfortunately for him, a policeman spotted the video, recognized the car model, and did a search for owners with the surname Loic. And guess what? There was only one with that name. A chip on the windscreen, clearly visible on the video, eliminated any potential doubt.
Loic will now face court for speeding and putting the lives of other motorists in danger. This could become an interesting case. According to some legal experts it will be hard to use the video as evidence in court.
