French Remain World Holiday Champions

I’m French, and I’m not at work!

Liberté, holiday, and more holiday…

In 2007, the French are again the ones with the longest holidays. On average they have 36 paid days off, far ahead of the Spanish (30 days), the Germans (26), the Brits (24) and the Americans (14).

Still, one in five French workers doesn’t take that many days off. They ‘sacrifice’ three days for professional reasons, just like one in three Americans and one in four Brits.

The poll, by Harris Interactive, also showed that Americans are reluctant holidayers: one in four checks his email during the vacation, and one in three feels stressed because he can’t stop thinking about work.

France may have a president who wants the French to work harder but it’s unlikely he’ll ever convince them to take their holidays the American way…

Hello Frogsmoke, Greetings from Paris where I’m working…no vacation for me, but then again, I’m not French. Writer and artist, endlessly writing and making art. Writing, too, for http://www.theparisblog.com. Do take a look. Other than that, it looks like you are enjoying your vacation, and it seems that het gaat goed met jouw!

    Best,

    Matthew

Matthew: thanks for visiting. I know TPB – at one point I also contributed, but for some reason Laurie isn’t interested anymore. About my vacation: it started 15 years ago, and I’m still not back at work…

checks ‘their’ or ‘his or her’ e-mail, not ‘his’.
feels stressed because ‘they’ or ‘he or she’ can’t stop, not ‘he’.

Women go on vacation as well! This has to be a Dutch inspired mistake :)
