Friday is video day on Frogsmoke. In this edition: a faux Sarko, female rugby underwear, a fight for kisses, a soulful singer in Paris, a serial building climber, boring fruits, a biker with guts, a guitar player without guitar, and musical therapy. Enjoy!
Faux Sarko and The Human Bomb
One of the highlights on French TV this week was the docu-drama “Human Bomb”.
The film recalled the events in 1993, when a man took a nursery school hostage in the Parisian suburb Neuilly, where a certain Nicolas Sarkozy was mayor. Sarkozy performed most of the negotiations, and personally liberated several children. In the film, Frederic Quiring played the part of Sarkozy quite convincingly. Even if you can’t follow the language, you may recognize the typical Sarkozy gestures and staccato talking. In this scene, Sarkozy tells the hostage taker that his demand of 100 million francs (10 billion old francs) is unacceptable and unpractical, because it would take a lorry to transport it. The end of the scene shows live footage of the real Sarkozy (1:45).
Dim Dim Girls hijack Rugby World Cub

Bad surprise for the International Rugby Board, which has the exclusive commercial rights for the Rugby World Cub.
During the France-Ireland match on 21 September, a bunch of scarcely clad girls jumped up, and were immediately caught by the cameras, giving 14.5 million French a good look at the collection of underwear manufacturer DIM. The IRB is considering taking DIM to court. (40 secs)

Star Wars in the French countryside
Things can heat up considerably when French farmers give in to road rage. Here, the battle is fought in true Star Wars style. The film is a bit lengthy (5 mins), but gets quite exhilarating after the 2-minute mark.
Isa Somparé: Tu m’dis que tu m’aimes

Triphop’s not dead, it’s resting its cool-capped head in the loving arms of Isa Somparé.
She just made a great video to accompany the soulful Tu m’dis que tu m’aimes, with scenes from Paris, including the river Seine’s Bank, Notre Dame and the Eiffel tower (3:28). Isa’s greatest fear is that a wolf comes out of her closet and eats both her ears. See Isa’s Myspace for more fun facts. Via Filles Sourires
Moscow before the police catch me

Yes, he has been at it again.
Alain Robert, aka the French Spiderman, who has scaled buildings such as the Petronas Twin Towers and the Sears Tower, has been caught climbing the Federation Tower in Moscow. It took him just half an hour to climb 243 meters up the Western Tower. Using the safety system specially erected on the building’s facade the police let him climb to the top but promptly arrested him when he reached the building’s 59th floor. This is part of probably the most boring series of videos on YouTube (1:46). If you’re interested in French vowels, consonants, verbs and bodyparts, you’ll find the full catalog on YouTube.
