Favorite take-away cars: Smart Fortwo, Renault Twingo, Peugeot 306
In France, 390 cars are stolen each day.
The most popular victims of theft are the Smart Fortwo, Renault Twingo and Peugeot 306. Unlike in many other countries, it’s not the sophisticated 4x4s that are taken away, but small city cars, which are usually not parked in garages.
For every 10,000 cars insured, 185 Smart Fortwos, 146 Renault Twingos and 110 Peugeot 360s found a new owner without money changing hands. Other popular take-away models are the Renault Clio, Audi A3, Renault Mégane, Volkswagen Golf, BMW A5, Audi A6 and Peugeot.
