French lefties are suffering from massive schizophrenia: even if they like Carla Bruni’s new album they have to say they hate it, because they can’t stand her husband.
Never mind! Bruni’s “Comme si de rien n’était” is a solid piece of work, and the first single from it (L’amoureuse) is a lovely song about a woman in love. Here’s the clip:
\”Solid piece of work\”??? Tongue-in-cheek, Romke??? It was already common knowledge that this woman cannot sing [which, by the way, is not a handicap in pop music]. But with this \”solid piece of work\” she delivered the proof that she even cannot NOT sing! By comparison, the voice of another cannot-sing-singer, Jane Birkin, is just a triumph!
[I suppose it\'s a matter of taste. I like Birkin, I like Bruni, I also liked Greco, and I was in love with Hardy 40 years ago. I think I just fall for women without a voice! - RS]
