When a plumber was asked to clear the blocked drains of an apartment building he was surprised to find the cause of the bouchon: 60,000 euros in 50-euro notes, each ripped into two or four pieces, and flushed through the toilet. The owner was quickly found: a depressed man, living in the building with his mother. Since the police determined that the money was no forgery and not stolen, no arrest was made. The owner of the money was later qualified as “psychologically fragile”. The story doesn’t tell what happened to the expensive confetti.
