We all know that China is the world’s most populous nation, and that one in five earthlings is Chinese these days. But that doesn’t make the concept easier to grasp. This map compares the population of China’s territories with those of whole countries, and illustrates how big China really is.
The Chinese territory that comes closest to France is Hunan province, with 67 million inhabitants. It’s the seventh largest Chinese territory. In the map I’ve marked Hunan in yellow.
