One in nine French steals hotel towels

towel.jpgFrom the useless statistics department: 57% of the French claim they’ve never stolen anything from a hotel, which leaves 43% who have. Towels are apparently popular. Eleven percent of French hotel guests admit they’ve stolen at least one hotel towel.

These are some of the results of a survey by the researchers at TripAdvisor, who compared the behavior of European hotel guests. For what it’s worth: 35% of the French leave their clothes in their suitcase, while 79% of the Brits use the wardrobes. Sixty-seven percent of the French hang towels back on the rail, but 13% of the German leave them on the floor.

The French are among the most careful hotel guests: only 9% admit that they’ve broken things in their hotel room, which compares favorably with the 17% of the Brits who can look back at some room damage.
