'Asshole of the Web' gets Google-bombed
If Nicolas Sarkozy thought he could get away easily with his controversial anti-piracy law he should think again. In the past few days, French bloggers had a nice surprise for him. In a concerted effort they placed a Google Bomb on the web, which points any search for Trou du cul du web (asshole of the web) to the sarkozy.fr site.
The Elysee was obviously furious but Google stayed cool. From their press release:
"We don't condone any practice to alter the integrity of our search results, but we're also not enthusiastic about manually modifying the results to remove this information. The practice of malicious "Google Bombing" may be entertaining for some, but in no way affects the quality of our search engine, whose impartiality remains, as always, at the heart of our mission."
