Worldmapper keeps amazing the, er, world with new looks at our planet. In their latest project they redraw maps based on population size rather than land mass. The startling cartography also includes maps of individual countries, whereby the most populated areas are bulging out. Here’s how France is projected (click for bigger):

I know how you feel about not being in the bulging parts. I so loved it when we had our house in the Tarn (which we unfortunately had to sell last year), that the population density in the area was 2 inhabitants per square km. I don’t even want to know what it is in the Amsterdam area! (although I must admit that the number of interesting people to meet/good bars/bookstores with sales staff that actually know what they’re talking about/good concerts etc is proportionally higher over here).
