Chirac gets rid of his last opponent

Retirement hasn’t come easy for ex-prez Jacques Chirac. Even outside the political arena he continues to fight fierce opponents.

Sumo the terrible

In the past two years, good old (76 years) Jacques received the bloodiest attacks from his own dog, a Maltese poodle appropriately named Sumo. Already in January this year the Daily Mail reported Former French President Chirac hospitalised after mauling by his clinically depressed poodle.

Despite receiving treatment with anti-depressants, Sumo has remained a relentless threat. This week, the critter attacked Chirac in the stomach, drawing ex-presidential blood for the third time. “Un oeuf c’est un oeuf” were probably Jacques’ words, because now Sumo has been expelled from chez Chirac to a farm owned by friends of the family.

That’ll teach him!

Update It’s now also on the BBC: Chirac gives away ‘violent’ dog
