This is probably the earliest recording of a singing (well, sort of) Vanessa Paradis.

In 1981, when Vanessa was eight years old, she appeared as a contestant on the European television program L'Ecole des Fans (The School of Fans). A sort of cult TV hit, the show featured very young children doing what were often very bad renditions of well-known songs. She brought mom, dad, and uncle Didier, who had used his connection (he knew the piano player) to get his niece on the show.

The presenter of the show was a certain Jacques Martin, who in 1984 married a certain Cécilia María Sara Isabel Ciganer-Albéniz in front of the then mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine, a certain Nicolas Sarkozy. This mayor was so smitten with Cecilia that he convinced her in 1988 to divorce Martin and live with him instead. That unity lasted nearly twenty years until it broke up in 2007, when Nick was prez and Cecilia first lady. A few weeks later Nick married a certain Carla Bruni. In January this year, the new first lady organized an event to raise money for her AIDS charity, and one of the guests at that event was… Vanessa Paradis.
