Mark my words: Roman Polanski will be back in France before Christmas

Call it a hunch or a conspiracy theory but I’m pretty sure the French and Swiss government have concocted a nice escape route for Roman Polanski. The man will never go on trial in the USA. I found most of the clues in this article in the Times.

One. It looks like Nicolas Sarkozy has been ‘very effective’ in securing Polanski release. Even if he wasn’t personally involved there must have been some diplomatic maneuvering at a very high level.

Two. If Polanski escapes to France he can only lose his Swiss house. There’s plenty money left if that happens. Polanski is a rich man, and his actress wife Emmanuelle Seigner isn’t short of money either.

Three. Polanski will be obliged to wear an electronic bracelet, but not one with a GPS that could track him down. If the alarm goes off and no police is in the vicinity, he can go wherever he likes.

And what happens when Polanski is back in France? Nothing. France never extradites its citizens to foreign countries. Case closed.
