Broken Faces

Of the soldiers who survived WW1 many didn’t come out unscathed. One year after the end of the war a delegation of those Gueules Cassées (Broken Faces) showed up at the Congrès de la Paix in Versailles. Brave people! (Click pic for bigger.)

    Having been listening to the recent BBC4 book at bedtime, My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You…, this is particularly timely. They were indeed brave.
