From the nuclear energy article in the Telegraph:

//Privately, the French must be laughing their heads off. In the 1970s, at the time of the first oil shock, they were irked that Britain could fall back on North Sea reserves. They decided to interpret this imbalance as a sign of French superiority.

A government slogan quickly caught on: "En France, on n'a pas de pétrole, mais on a des idées." (In France, we don't have any oil, but we do have ideas).

The implication was that the Brits needed their North Sea oil because they wouldn't have enough nous to come up with other solutions.//

That is so stupid! The slogan is from the 70's but the North Sea oil wasn't exploited until the early 80's.

No wonder you guys have so many prejudices and stereotypes about the French, with your press feeding you those stupid lies all the time, and you swallow most of them whole!

Who are those -you guys- and -your press-? I'm not British!

Well, obviously you read the British press. And from our exchange about your invented French "claim" about the French language, you certainly swallow the lies they put out!

Or why put a link without a comment to such an obviously idiotic and biased article?

[come to think of it, I do realize that your "Another Day In France" posts would be a bit bare if you were to eliminate all the propaganda and brainwashing stories from the Brit and US press…]

It doesn't look like Frogsmoke is your favorite blog. That's fine with me. But why waste your time shouting at me while you could perform the noble task of educating the British press directly? They also accept comments in their articles, and I'm convinced they will accept your authority. Once you've convinced those biased idiots to stop their brainwashing and propaganda, this little prejudiced swallower of stupid lies will follow automatically. Thanks to Superfrenchie the world will then finally be a better place!

Frogsmoke IS one of my favorite blogs. Which is why I decided to comment (after much silent browsing). There's the biased stories from the Brit and US press, but there's many other things from which I learn everyday.

As for influencing the British press, let me quote Humbert Wolfe:

"You cannot hope to bribe or twist (thank God!) the British journalist. But, seeing what the man will do unbribed, there's no occasion to."

Let's leave it at that, then. I will continue to quote from the biased foreign press without checking the facts, and I will continue to post stuff that teaches you new things. I will also continue to accept your comments, as long as they're not personal attacks on me.
