A burglar in the north-east of France got away with 150 euros, stolen from the cash register in a beauty salon. Unfortunately, on his way home he lost part of his loot.
The next morning the police simply followed the track, marked with lost coins, and arrested the man.
It was not his first clumsy job. Police also found half a hammer in the man’s house, which matched the other half found in a burgled bakery. Source

A businessman in Nice was found alive after spending the night in an ossuaire (a dump for corpses for which relatives don’t want to pay a grave), filled with 2,000 dead bodies. A gravedigger warned the police after hearing a cry for help from the mass grave.
The man had been attacked by thugs, and was thrown in the 11 meter deep pit. A local official stated that he had been lucky, because “if those skeletons hadn’t broken his fall, he would be dead.” Source
