Sego can’t stand photographic harassment. At least not this time.

If ex-presidential candidate Segolene Royal gets her way she’ll soon be swimming in money.

The woman who has done everything to be in the news over the past two years now suddenly can’t stand “photographic harassment”.

In this week’s Paris Match, Royal is shown swimming with her daughter during a holiday in Corsica. She tried to stop publication of the weekly, but failed. Now she wants to sue the magazine for violation of her privacy. And she wants money – lots of it.

Royal seems to have forgotten that in 1992, when she was minister, she invited the same magazine and a TV crew into her maternity ward to photograph her newborn baby. And when she was photographed in a bikini during the presidential election campaign, she didn’t sue the publishers because the pictures were actually quite flattering.

Royal may succeed in getting “significant damages” from Paris Match. But if she wants to have another go at the presidency in five years time she may not get the photographic exposure she needs.
