The Jesus Phone is finally coming to France
If rumours can be believed, the [tag]iPhone[/tag] will be launched in France just after the Apple Expo in Paris, which runs from 25 to 29 September. Apple has chosen Orange as the exclusive operator. Orange hasn't confirmed the deal, but they refuse to deny it.
Being gadget-addicts it's likely the French will go absolutely bananas, and buy the Jesus Phone by the thousands. No price has been given yet, but as usual the price in euros will be the same as the price in dollars: expect 500 to 600 euros, plus the cost of an Orange subscription.
I'm sure the two other operators (SFR and Bouygues) are having a crisis meeting as we speak; they're likely to lose lots of customers to Orange.
Only three countries in Europe will have the iPhone this year: France, the UK and Germany. The rest of Europe and Asia will follow in 2008.

FYI: "Jesus Phone" is a slur intended to mock anyone interesting in buying a product that the speaker disapproves of. This is similar to the habit of referring to satisfied customers of Apple products as "Cult Members".
Apparently it's impossible to be pleased with your purchase, and expressing this idea is evidence of your mental imbalance.
Every year people line up around the block for the latest Hollywood fare, spend thousands on big screen TVs for a football game and make bets on who will win a gold statuette from The Academy… but if you express excitement over an Apple product, you are a freak.

Tedious: it isn't and wasn't intended as a slur. The term 'Jesus Phone' is used all over the blogosphere, and mostly in a positive fashion. I used it with the same intent.
