China is under intensive pressure to clean up its act before the Olympic Games.
Not only Darfur, human rights, and blogger censorship are under scrutiny, Chinese animal cruelty also generates a lot of anger.
French association One Voice for the Animals highlights, as they call it, “the brutal reality of China’s dog meat trade” and the “suffering on an Olympic scale in Chinese zoos“. On the latter subject they have a video which doesn’t make pleasant watching.
There is also an online petition which will be delivered to Chinese president Hu Jintao.
