Better than a Marathon: Running from France to China
I completely missed it, but too late now: Frenchman runs over 9,000km in 161 days
French teacher and virtual-reality expert Philippe Fuchs ran from Paris to the Great Wall of China in 161 days, and arrived there last week. The planned distance was 8,487km (5,300mi), but in the end it came down to 9,227km (5,700mi), a respectable daily average of 57km (35mi). The entire expedition was a high-tech affair, aiming at collecting scientific and biomechanical data. True to Fuchs' job, his website is a showcase of virtual reality, including regular reports by the man himself, rendered in 3D, and speaking in fluent synthesized American. Watch it here (in English).
